In 1970, Kiu Tai Yu made his first mechanical wristwatch at the young age of 23. 8 years later, he did something remarkable and created the first asian escapement without pallets. In 1980, he moved to Hong Kong and established Kew & Cie. This company purely specializes in unusual timepieces, which sounds like a pretty fun work environment.
In 1990, he creates the very first Asian tourbillon wristwatch. It’s quite a large step in the Asian wristwatch industry. A lot of Asian wristwatch companies are focused so much on electrical technology that sometimes the mechanisms and complications get overlooked. From 1991 until 1993, Yu manually creates 5 tourbillon wristwatches. This is an absolutely amazing feat for the watch industry and Yu definitely gained some notice from it.
From 1993 until 2002, Yu created some of the world’s most technologically advanced, but unusually creative watches. He created the Flying Tourbillon, in which the bridge is removed. He also developed the Mystery Tourbillon. For this piece, both the bridge and the carriage is removed, which creates a gorgeous and unusual effect. Notably, he also created the world’s very first coaxial flying tourbillon wristwatch and the first eccentric flying tourbillon with fixed escapement.

The property of today’s society have changed long ago, people wearing the watch is to promote the identity and status. Because most of the top luxury watch brands have followed the principle of mass production of scarce, their price before they have been expensive watch is amazing. As a result, we almost have a consensus in recent years, many watch is ridiculously overpriced, but most of the watch on its price, the reason why the watch is always listening to the mainland more expensive.
